Wolfertschwenden, 23 February 2017 - MultiFresh is a particular focus of this year's interpack presence by MULTIVAC in Hall 5, Stand E23. Examples of the packaging system for producing highquality vacuum skin packs will be shown on the compact R 105 MF thermoforming packaging machine and the T 300 H traysealer. The focus will also be on the complete film range from MULTIVAC, which is unique in the market for its diversity.
Food-processing companies and food retailers are increasingly opting for vacuum skin packs for packaging soft products as well as those that are more inherently stable. Vacuum skin packs protect the product reliably without deforming it. The upper web is draped without tension over the product like a second skin, and it fixes the product in place within the pack, so that it can be presented at the point of sale either standing up or hanging as well as lying flat. The vacuum in the pack contributes to extended shelf life.
MULTIVAC has many years of experience in vacuum skin technology and offers a broad spectrum of special packaging machines, which meet the widest range of requirements with regard to pack size, output and level of automation. The comprehensive machine range includes both thermoforming packaging machines and traysealers for packing a wide variety of products with differing product protrusion. The R 575 MF PRO thermoforming packaging machine was for example designed for packing products with a protrusion of up to 90 mm.
R 105 MF thermoforming packaging machine
As regards the sector of thermoforming packaging machines, the supplier of solutions from the Allgäu region of Germany will be presenting in Düsseldorf its compact R 105 MF machine, an economical entry-level model for producing high-quality vacuum skin packs in small to medium-sized batches. The R 105 MF has the same technical equipment as the large machine models. It has received a very positive reception in the market, since it also enables smaller manufacturers to make an entry into vacuum skin packaging. As with the higher-output models, the R 105 MF is equipped with integrated upper web chain guidance, which ensures that the upper web is guided firmly during the packaging procedure.
T 300 H traysealer
From its wide range of traysealers, MULTIVAC will be showing at interpack its fully automatic T 300 H machine. The space-saving entrylevel model is suitable for packing a wide range of products, and it was primarily designed for companies packing small to medium-sized batches. The T 300 H can be designed as multi-track and combined with various discharge systems. Thanks to the simple die change, the machine can quickly be converted for different pack sizes and shapes. Electric drive systems for the tray transport, lifting unit and film trim winder ensure that it has an energy-efficient method of operation.
Complete skin film product range
At interpack MULTIVAC will also be comprehensively featuring its range of MultiFresh films. The high-quality films have outstanding mechanical properties, which means that they can be used as a replacement for thicker materials without compromising quality. This reduces film consumption significantly and spares the environment. All upper and lower webs comply of course with the current requirements and regulations for the food processing industry.
The upper webs have been designed for different product shapes and heights and are available in various standard thicknesses. This means that it is possible to pack products that have flat, mediumhigh or high profiles, as well as food with irregular contours. The MultiFresh range of lower webs consists of APET composite materials and covers a wide spectrum of mechanical and barrier properties as well as different peel systems.
Exhibition visitors to the MULTIVAC stand will also gain an informative insight into the different applications for the films: one example of these are upper webs with enhanced mechanical properties for packing products with sharp edges, such as meat with bones or seafood. There are also films with a high level of oxygen permeability, which are primarily used for packing fresh fish. Films with soft-peel function on the other hand are perfectly suited to packing dry products such as ham, salami and cheese slices. The films with hard-peel function are used for packing those products, from which liquid can escape.
