Regulations such as the EU Regulation 2016/161, which must be implemented by 9 February 2019, require innovative solutions to protect the patient from counterfeit medicines. At the Pharmapack in Paris, Schreiner MediPharm will present its broad portfolio of customer-specific pharmaceutical security solutions to secure the supply chain on 1 and 2 February 2017 in Hall 4, Stand M31. The focus is on a newly developed label which demonstrates a combination of different digital security features on a booklet label with an integrated first-opening seal.
The lowest position of the booklet label by Schreiner MediPharm contains a flap, which serves as a tamper seal for tamper protection. If you open the seal, a void effect appears as an irreversible initial opening indication. The booklet label applied to a package allows, for example, the pharmacist to view product information on the medication contained, without opening the package and thus destroying the manipulation protection. In addition, the sample label has three digital security features.
BitSecure: Innovative protection technology
The new copyright protection technology based on a high resolution, cloud-like noise patterns. When trying to copy BitSecure, the forgery loses precision and optical details. While the original print is made from a high-resolution digital document, an illegal copy is based on an already printed image. These deviations can be checked by means of a smartphone app, a conventional scanner or a 2D bar code reader as well as corresponding software. The BitSecure pattern requires only a minimal size of a few square millimeters and can easily be integrated into the branding of the pharmaceutical manufacturer.
KeySecure: Innovative tracing system
The innovative tracing system based on an encrypted, 15-digit alphanumeric code. This enables the identification and authenticity testing of each individual labeled product via smartphone or Internet. The code can be printed in plain text or as a 2D code. The originality check is carried out by entering the code on the manufacturer website, the mobile query of the 2D code by smartphone or by telephone hotline.
NFC chip in the label: Digital authenticity control
A label into an integrated NFC chip enables digital authenticity control via smartphone. The NFC chip unobtrusively fits into the label design and allows for contactless product identification over a few centimeters. Due to the widespread use of NFC enabled smartphones, the end user can use this feature quickly and easily. In addition, it is possible to automatically launch an app for product verification.
