The ten finalists of packaging innovation contest De Gouden Noot 2016 that were announced on 1 July 2016 are attracting global attention as the debate unfolds which of these will become the final Gold winner later this year. De Gouden Noot is arguably the world’s most competitive packaging innovation contest. With De Gouden Noot the NVC stimulates innovation of packaging and packaged products. The unique trophy with a solid golden walnut inside is the symbol of the contest.
The kick-off of this 28th edition took place on 1 October 2015 at the Royal Industrieele Groote Club in Amsterdam and the deadline for entry was 1 May 2016. This provided the global packaging community with sufficient time to decide on participating and thoroughly prepare their entries. On 8 and 9 June 2016 the first judging round took place, with all 36 ultimate entries physically available for the Jury to discuss. The 20-person jury made their final choice for the ten finalists after this two-day judging procedure.
