Ardagh Group S.A., (inclusive of Ardagh Metal Packaging and Ardagh Glass Packaging) and its renewable energy partners Eneco and Zoncoalitie are delighted to announce the start of construction for three on-site solar projects in the Netherlands.

The solar installations will supply renewable on-site generated electricity to Ardagh’s Dongen, Moerdijk and Oss facilities and are part of Ardagh’s strategy to use 100% renewable electricity by 2030.

Ardagh Glass Packaging – Europe (AGP-Europe) has collaborated with B&B Studio and Belvoir Farm to create a new glass bottle design for Belvoir Farm’s new range of sophisticated, non-alcoholic Botanical Sodas.

The new design is a fully recyclable 500ml flint glass bottle that contains 45% recycled glass and has a reduced weight of just 380g. Its tall, slender profile features a short neck that curves into the tall, slender bottle profile, creating a retro shape with shelf stand-out.

• Virtual trials on new coatings to significantly reduce the weight of glass bottles to start in January 2022, with anticipated product testing in summer 2022
• Virtual trials reduce the risks and timescales of the development and testing process for glass strengthening and lightweighting
• Reducing the weight of glass bottles reduces the raw materials and energy used in the glass melting process and reduces emissions in manufacture and transportation
• If successful, significant lightweighting could be transformational for the glass industry on its journey to net zero

The glass packaging supplier wins the coveted award for outstanding quality and service
Ardagh Glass Packaging has been a major supplier of Edrington’s spirit bottles for over 30 years, producing premium bottles for brands such as The Famous Grouse and Brugal rum.

In revealing the spirit producer’s overall choice of Supplier of the Year 2020, Edrington commented that they were impressed with Ardagh’s 100% quality record during the year.

Tim Croxson, currently the company’s COO, has taken up the position of CEO with immediate effect, in place of his father, James Croxson, who steps aside to concentrate more on developing Croxsons’ international concerns. The change of ownership, due to be formalized later in the year, comes after a period of extraordinary growth for the family firm, who celebrate their remarkable 150th anniversary next year.
