The university of california, berkeley have collaborated with the national chiao tung university in taiwan to come up with a 3d printing solution to detect food spoilage. the collaboration led to the development of the smart cap which has embedded sensors to detect the freshness of milk inside a container.the researchers 3dprinted a wireless smart cap for a carton of milk is able to detect signs of spoilage through integrated sensors.to test the freshness of the milk, the container need to be turned upside down and the smart cap&39s sensors will be able to test the milk&39s drinking viability by analysing the milk trapped in the cap&rsquos capacitor gap.these changes in electrical signals were occasionally tracked using a wireless radiofrequency probe.it was observed that as the milk degrades its property changes slowly, resulting in differences in its electrical properties.
