In-Mould Labeling, Bi-Injection and DOUBLEFLOW take center stage in the UNITED CAPS stand
Luxembourg. 8. May 2017. UNITED CAPS, an international producer of innovative caps and closure solutions and a global industry reference for the design and production of high performance plastic caps and closures, today announced it will be unveiling three new innovative solutions at Interpack 2017, scheduled for 4-10 May in Düsseldorf. UNITED CAPS will be located in Hall 10, Stand D67, at the show. Taking center stage in the UNITED CAPS exhibit will be new developments for in-mould labeling (IML); a new BiInjection technology that creates seamless multi-coloured caps; and DOUBLEFLOW, a unique dual-function cap that is a precision pouring instrument for edible oils and vinegars.
“We are looking forward to presenting these innovations to visitors to our stand at InterPack 2017,” said Benoît Henckes, CEO. “UNITED CAPS is known for its extensive innovative capabilities and a broad portfolio of advanced standard and bespoke solutions in caps and closures. We believe visitors to our stand will be excited to see the latest developments. The market for caps and closures is growing, as evidenced by our year-over-year growth in 2016 of 7.5%. And increasingly, brand owners and manufacturers turn to us for the most environmentally sustainable and functional caps and closure solutions that can set their products apart with breakthrough shelf appeal. Interpack is the perfect venue to show off the latest developments and engage visitors in meaningful conversations about how technologically advanced caps and closures can enhance their products.”
On Display at Interpack 2017
In addition to a wide range of caps and closure solutions from the UNITED CAPS portfolio, the company is proud to display three innovative new additions to its product portfolio:
- Bi-Injection. This is a new approach to injection moulding whereby two colours of the same or different plastic material are injected into one cavity via two independent gates. Bi-injection opens new possibilities by combining the properties of two different plastics: a strong and rigid pourer goes together with a smooth, low friction overcap without compromising the tight fit. Bi-injection also allows brands and manufacturers to be more creative with closure colours. By creating these closures in a single manufacturing step, these unique configurations can be produced faster, more cost-efficiently and with a solid bond between the two materials.
- In-Mould Labeling IML. IML uses plastic labels during the manufacture of the closure, which then become an integral part of the final product. With a single label, texture and finish can be applied as decoration onto a closure, resisting damage due to wear over the product life and changes in temperature and humidity. This makes IML the most cost-efficient and sustainable technique for the sophisticated decoration of plastic closures, allowing outstanding differentiation without extending their environmental footprint. UNITED CAPS’ market-leading IML capabilities have resulted in substantial market share growth within the food industry. The industry benchmark is metallic IML, which is highly resistant to shocks and scratches. It was developed by UNITED CAPS and will be unveiled later this year by a well-known brand.
- DOUBLEFLOW. DOUBLEFLOW is a precision pouring instrument featuring a unique and innovative droplet shape that provides unprecedented control and security. It is lightweight and attractive with no compromise on spill-free performance, keeping the bottle dry and easy to handle while maintaining the quality of the contents through its shelf life. It is designed for use with edible oils and vinegars. Precise engineering ensures an innovative droplet shape with the option to drizzle or pour the oil or vinegar. A wide selection of colours and engraving options are available, enhancing the opportunity for brands to stand out on the shelf.
“We are especially pleased to be able to show our DOUBLEFLOW solution to visitors to our Interpack 2017 stand,” Henckes added. “This is a truly unique solution that allows users to better control the flow of edible oils and vinegars, and manufacturers to implement without any line modifications. In addition to its reliable reseal that ensures that contents are protected, a significant reduction in CO2 emissions during its manufacture ensures that DOUBLEFLOW helps protect the planet as well!”
