Tantra a word typically used in India in many ways. The more its used by spiritually inclined people. There are various things like Yantra, Tantra and Mantra in India for understanding the life and beyond, for attaining ultimate peace called Nirvana.
So for me, Tantra of packaging available here. Tantra literally means “to weave”. Or you can say it implies “interweaving of traditions and teachings as threads” into a text, technique or practice.
This is what I saw at Interpack, this was full of people from different cultures all over the world, so many people, so many machines, so many booths, so many materials, so many processes, so many innovations and so many and so many. They all were brought together by Interpack and that’s the reason I call it Tantra of Packaging.
Our key findings from the show were:
- Bioplastics and green packaging solutions
- Automation for higher productivity, reduction of errors
- Use of robotics
- Softwares like ERP, testing, simulation
- Focus on serialisation implementation
- Digital printing
- Options to increase product shelf life
- Recruitment of Packaging professionals in an organized manner
And then there was some focus on packaging education but I think this should have been better.
Only disappointing thing for us was a bit discouraging/unfriendly behaviours by couple of companies towards visitors when they asked for details. I do not want to name the company but it was not nice. Visitors are there to make the show successful and so they got to be treated with dignity. Of course, visitors should also maintain the decorum. I am not sure if I should be mentioning this here but I could not stop myself reporting the truth at such a big show, its an expensive show bit for participating as well as for visiting. This was a shock for me as this has never happened with me in past but I guess it is natural when so many people come together and jump for information which is not easily available. So I guess it needs the framing of Code of Conduct at the show by organizers to make it more friendly. This is specially more important when they are expanding by way of Interpack Alliance in different parts of the world.
I was personally happy to see the progress of Flex to Uflex doing so great, Mr Ashok Chaturvedi had same friendly welcome as he had 25 hears back. I met him now after 12 years and he had all the time for me and that’s what I liked about him that he is always available,
