The principles have come as a new study uncovers that European adults admit to throwing 41% of their recyclable material into general waste. In fact, 74% said they were not clear which types of packaging can and can’t be recycled. A total of 51% of Europeans cited unclear information on packaging as the reason why they were unsure whether to recycle a piece of packaging or not.
I am sure we all must have lifted this pack once in our lifetime and what did it feel like….gurrr, “It is quite heavy, why can’t there be some easy option to lift it up?” Ofcourse when it comes to labours lifting such heavy boxes or crates or shrink wrapped cases we generally don’t bother, right?
Recently in an exhibition I saw workmen lifting these shrink cases with one hand through a big hole that they dig into the shrink film. But is it actually the right way to handle our lovely shrink wrapped bottle case? I don’t think so.
Such issues are not only with water bottles or beverage bottles. The same problem arises when we buy an electric fan or a table fan or some other electrical appliance. We have to hold it using both the hands and then woooosh…we are not left with any third hand to do more shopping
Being a packaging professional we feel bad at these sights and we often think of giving industry some solutions. One such solution is “Carry Handle Tapes” (CHT). Yes you read it right – These adhesive based carry handles are an effective yet simple option, tape that acts as a handle, based of adhesive yet very strong to hold a heavy weight package.
This could be applied onto versatile substrates like paperboard, CFB, plastic jars or bottles, shrink wrapped cases and also on flexible packs. It is a self-adhesive tape with a unique hot melt adhesive that could carry a package weight upto 18kg. This could be applied either manually (Detachable CHT) or automatically through applicators.
If you are a beverage manufacturer, tissue paper manufacturer, retail store owner, delivery company, co-packer, hyper mart or modern bazaar owner, FMCG, food brand manager – this product is for you.
For the environmentalist – this product could be of interest since it provide sustainable option by reducing usage of plastic, supporting clear environment goals (both for private and retail labels).
For brand owners – it gives a direct top space to advertise your product or special message for your customers.
So what are waiting for, contact us for more information / samples of this carry handle tape.

Reifenhäuser Reicofil converts its own meltblown test lines to production and thus supplies material for up to one million face masks daily.
The German machinery and plant manufacturer Reifenhäuser Reicofil has temporarily converted two of its test plants due to the corona pandemic: The lines installed in the nonwovens technology center, which are otherwise exclusively used for research and development as well as customer trials, have been producing meltblown material for the production of urgently needed face masks for one week. This is the company's response to the current emergency in the supply of medical protective material.
Dr. Bernd Kunze, CEO of Reifenhäuser Reicofil, explains the decision as follows: "We have considered what contribution we can make in this crisis. This is of course mainly the fast delivery of meltblown lines to build up additional capacities. We have drastically reduced our delivery times here. But we also wanted to provide support at shorter notice. Until the currently lacking capacities are built up, we are therefore stepping in with the test plants in our pilot plant station. Not using this capacity now would be irresponsible in our view.”
Error-free medication management in hospitals can save lives. Medicines equipped with RFID-Labels can be tracked from the hospital pharmacy to bedside dispensing and their availability ensured. This presupposes that the RFID-Label and tracking system are perfectly matched. The new partnership between pharma label specialist Schreiner MediPharm and the U.S. company Kit Check, a provider of RFID tracking software and hardware, will ensure this in the future.
With the RFID-Labels developed by Schreiner MediPharm combined with Kit Check’s tracking solution hospital pharmacies can track and manage their entire inventory and usage of medications by means of intelligent software. For instance, a large number of syringes and vials equipped with RFID-Labels can automatically be scanned by a Kit Check scanning station to identify their batch numbers and expiration dates. Subsequently, an inventory report is generated that shows which medication is missing or expiring. This not only saves hospital staff a lot of time but, above all, reduces the risk of medication errors and contributes to patient safety.
Compatible and high-performing RFID-Labels are a prerequisite for Kit Check’s viable RFID solutions. To ensure compatibility and performance, the company reviews the label manufacturer’s technical capabilities and compliance with Kit Check's standards around certified inlays, EPC (Electronic Product Code) standards, serialization activities, and quality processes. If found to match Kit Check’s requirements, the supplier is awarded the “Works with Kit Check” trust mark as a certified manufacturer.
Stefan Wiedemann, Senior Director Strategic Marketing and Business Development at Schreiner MediPharm, explains the reasons for the cooperative partnership: “Kit Check’s innovative tracking software and hardware based on RFID is an ideal fit for our portfolio of smart label-integrated RFID solutions. The special design of our customized, highly robust labels ensures reliable readability via the Kit Check systems, thus enabling a safe and efficient supply chain in hospitals.”
Tim Kress-Spatz, co-founder of Kit Check, also welcomes the cooperation: “We know that Schreiner MediPharm has a track record of bringing unique innovations to market in the pharmaceutical space, including functional labels with integrated hangers, tamper-evident features and tactile security elements. We are excited to see the joint innovations that we are going to launch through this partnership.”
We at PackPlus South and PrintFair want to express our concern for everyone impacted by coronavirus. Like all of you, we have carefully monitored the global health crisis related to COVID-19 coronavirus. Our top priority is the health and safety of everyone involved in PackPlus South 2020 and PrintFair 2020; employees, customers and exhibitors.
Due to the uncertainty in the region and around the world, and after consultation with all our stakeholders, the venue management, supporting associations, and in alignment with the advice from the Indian public health authorities regarding travel to and from impacted countries, we have taken the decision to postpone our event which was due to take place on 20-22 March in Hyderabad.
PackPlus South & PrintFair is now scheduled for 18-20 December 2020 at HITEX Exhibition Center in Hyderabad
This is not a decision that has been taken lightly. We fully understand and appreciate the level of planning that is required to participate in an event like ours. Regrettably, the COVID-19 outbreak and related travel and commercial restrictions make those preparations too difficult to hold the show as planned in March. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. We are grateful to our customers for all their support and constructive input during this challenging period.
Leading up to the December event, we will continue to serve the PackPlus and PrintFair community and we are preparing a number of solutions aiming to provide customized services to participants and further maximize successful outcomes at the December event.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation and remain in close contact with all PackPlus South and PrintFair stakeholders in the coming weeks. Our thoughts are with all those affected in these difficult times.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of PackPlus South.
