With DualPack, the construction of the two-piece box enables smaller and thus more sustainable shipping packaging. For example, if the consumer in the corrugated packaging receives shoes that he has ordered for fitting in two different sizes, he can use the lid of DualPack for the return shipment. Cleverly designed, this can be folded in half, creating a new, smaller package.

The Universal Box protects pumps with a variety of functions connected with drinking water, heating, ventilation and sewage removal. This clever packaging, which is the brainchild of Smurfit Kappa designer Heinz Störi, was made for BIRAL AG, part of the Grundfos Group which is a world leader in pump manufacturing. Unlike many other types of industrial packaging, which depend on foam inserts to protect the contents, the Universal Box is made entirely from corrugated cardboard making it 100% recyclable and therefore much more sustainable.

I recently conducted a consumer survey to identify the food and drink packaging which was causing consumers the most difficulty.

An international panel of judges heralded the innovative packaging design of Mundipharma ’s k-haler device. The design is intended to help patients use their inhalers more effectively. Impressing a 63-strong jury of design experts, the k-haler secured an iF Design Award for packaging design in the medicine/pharmaceutics category. This year the iF Design Awards attracted more than 6,400 entries from 54 countries.
