The Refill Revolution: UK Coalition Unveils Scalable Solution to Cut Single-Use Plastic

The fight against single-use plastic is taking a major step forward in the UK, as The Refill Coalition unveils a groundbreaking, standardized solution to deliver refills at scale for both in-store and online shopping.

From Happy Birthday biscuits to New Baby, Back to School, or Christmas treats, these biscuits are sent around the world, making product protection essential to maintaining Biscuiteers' high standards.

With most orders placed online and shipped directly to customers, helping every biscuit to arrive in pristine condition is critical. Biscuiteers came to our Food Contact Packaging (FCP) team in search of a solution, and they jumped at the chance to help.

India generates approximately 26,000 tonnes of plastic waste daily, presenting a significant environmental challenge that affects landfills, waterways, and ecosystems. Mohd Suhail’s Athar Packaging Solutions is transforming this waste into affordable, eco-friendly packaging, having partnered with over 700 businesses across 60 cities since its launch in 2020.

The company’s success aligns with India’s ambitious recycling goals, which aim to increase the recycling rate from 30% in 2024-25 to 80% by 2027-28 under the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework.

Visycell is a fibre-based thermal insulation liner which, like EPS, has strong thermal and cushioning qualities. Unlike EPS, Visycell has the added benefit of being recyclable through kerbside recycling bins.   

Made in Melbourne’s west from cardboard waste offcuts, it has been specifically designed for Australia’s hot climate to keep temperature sensitive food and beverages safe and fresh.  

The LMB Series meets select low migration and food contact regulations, including the Swiss Regulation on Food Contact Materials, Regulation EU 10/2011, and Regulation EC 1935/2004 when formulated with appropriate letdown and additives. Available in Yellow, Orange, Red, Pink, Magenta, and Chartreuse, the series provides bold, eye-catching options for packaging designers while maintaining superior compatibility with offset printing applications.

Luxury women's fashion and fragrance brand, Oscar de la Renta launched a new fragrance called New York. This scent is inspired by and celebrates the spirit of New York City, from the scent notes to the packaging.
 
The bottle and folding carton are inspired by iconic Art Deco architecture found throughout New York City. 
 
An intricate vertical fluting fuses with the bottle and cap and is designed to resemble NYC architectural heritage. The soft pink hue of the fragrance is seen through the bottle and represents Oscar de la Renta’s feminine style.
