TotalEnergies and Indaver sign an offtake agreement for petrochemical feedstock from advanced recycling

Under this agreement, TotalEnergies will purchase the petrochemical feedstock produced at Indaver’s first Plastics2Chemicals plant (P2C). Indaver will supply and transform post-consumer mixed plastic waste into a petrochemical feedstock at its plant in Antwerp using its proprietary depolymerization technology. Currently under construction, the plant is expected to become operational by 2024.

Cost of living crush has made workers £200 a month worse off, through no fault of their own says GMB Union 

Some of Britain’s best-known food and drink brands, including Brewdog, Pepsico, Princes and KP snacks, face a Christmas logistics nightmare as workers vote over strike action. 

Almost 1,000 GMB members at DS Smith, who also make corrugated packaging for Chivas, Diageo and Seabrooks crisps, are balloting for industrial action over areal terms pay cut. 

The ballot closes 2 November, with any strike likely to take place later that month

Cosmos & Berry collaborates for new launch of haircare product for Texture Theory Brand

Plastic packaging products maker Berry Global has partnered with Cosmos Corporation to launch a new range of squeezable tubes for the latter’s Texture Theory brand. Launched in July in around 6,000 Dollar General stores, Texture Theory is a cruelty-free hair product brand that is accessible and affordable to consumers. US-based Berry said that around 80% of textured-hair consumers tried a new brand over the last year, compared to 63% of non-textured-hair consumers. According to the packaging firm, offering Texture Theory products in squeezable tubes in the value channel enables us to reach

The new Orion reclamation station is at CEVA Logistics in Brussels, chosen as an ideal location for its proximity to existing biopharma customers, prospects, and other western European countries.  CEVA Logistics is a well-established logistics partner to 500+ healthcare and life science companies, fully compliant with GxP and ISO standards. The BRU Orion Rental Station will perform full reclamation, cleaning, and refurbishment processes necessary to return Orion boxes back into circulation in ‘like new’ quality condition, suitable for healthcare products.

Kellogg's picks Paper

Since traditional plastic liners in cereal boxes are not widely recyclable curbside, Kellogg Europe tested new paper liners in boxes of Corn Flakes® at select Tesco stores in 2022. The trial produced thousands of cartons without a single modification to Kellogg’s production equipment or Tesco’s in-store processes. 

The paper-based liners preserve the cereal’s freshness as effectively as its plastic counterpart and makes the entire cereal carton recyclable through more readily available methods.

On-Pack QR Attracts Students with Beats

Created in partnership with Cutwater, its digital creative agency of record, the effect entitled “Snap Sounds” can be accessed directly through TikTok (@harvestsnaps_official) or by scanning the QR code on Harvest Snaps’ newly launched Mixed Snack Pack. This bag-in-bag, six-pack offering of veggie snacks includes the brand’s best-selling Lightly Salted and Tomato Basil flavors, along with Crunchy Loops Sour Cream and Onion. Each single-serve bag is portioned and sized for backpacks or handbags.

Reusing Agricultural waste for Product Packaging now launched by TestValley

Test Valley Packaging, based in Andover is working in partnership with envoPAP to introduce a brand-new material into its’ packaging portfolio: RAW (Reusing Agricultural Waste) Packaging. Made from agricultural waste from sugar cane farms across India, the card and paper will be available in a number of different formats for a wide range of packaging products. This will include cartons, printing paper, and mailing bags, with room for innovation to expand to void fill, paper bubble wrap, and much more.

Cepi updates paper recycling methods

Essential to the project was the support of 4evergreen members, which over nine months carried out tests that informed the improvements of the method and the development of three technical annexes. 

The method is particularly relevant to the paper packaging industry. Many paper packaging options already enjoy high recycling rates but are also increasingly fulfilling new functionalities. These need to be considered by brand owners aiming to reach ever-higher performance in terms of circularity and sustainability for their products.
