The British spring water brand, which uses 100% recycled aluminium bottles that are also 100% recyclable, is providing a bespoke COP26 custom-label bottle.
COP26 marks the second time Re:Water has been chosen by the government as the eco-friendly brand was appointed as the official water supplier for delegates at the G7 Summit in Cornwall in June.
Re:Water is also announcing today that it has signed up to the United Nations-backed global campaign Race to Zero, which aims to halve global emissions by 2030.
Bottled at source in Herefordshire with pure English spring water, Re:Water bottles are a sustainable and genuine solution to single-use plastic. As the bottle is made from 100% recycled aluminium, it uses 95% less energy to produce compared to new aluminium.
The Re:Water bottle can also be refilled, reused and recycled. Research has shown that by refilling and reusing the bottle just 2.5 times, users can offset the added carbon emissions needed to create a Re:Water bottle. Additionally, it is a one-piece material product, meaning it is easy to recycle at roadside recycling points.
The focus on plastic has been heightened once again following comments from UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson ahead of COP26. In a BBC article, he said “we’ve all got to cut down our use of plastic” and recycling plastic materials “doesn’t work” and “is not the answer” to threats to global oceans and marine wildlife.
Re:Water co-founder Matt Crocker said: “Reducing carbon emissions and battling climate change is high on the agenda at COP26, which is where it should be. Effecting consumer behaviour must be a priority for governments, making sustainable, ethical choices easy. It’s great to see COP26 leading by example, reducing plastic with a custom-label product from Re:Water, which is a sustainable, convenient and genuine alternative to plastic.”
Re:Water is an example of a British brand that is leading the way in ‘building back better’ from the pandemic. At the forefront of the green recovery offering a product that can reduce carbon emissions and combat single-use plastic reduction, Re:Water will be supplying 27,500 bottles of spring water for the 13-day event, which runs from 31 October to 12 November.
Re:Water is the world’s first 100% recycled aluminium Spring Water bottle. The product comes filled with pure British Spring Water, bottled at source on protected land in the UK. The aluminium bottle helps to keep the water cooler and fresher for longer, and once finished can be refilled, reused and recycled. Developed in response to the growing global problem of single-use materials, it’s a genuine alternative to single-use plastic.
