Mondi Gronau starts production of more than one million medical face masks per day in Germany

Mondi Gronau in Germany has started up new lines to produce medical grade face masks and melt-blown nonwoven fabric, one of the crucial components for medical face mask production 
The fully automated high-speed machines allow production of 700 masks per minute and more than one million face masks per day 
All critical components are manufactured on site 
The face masks are certified as a medical product to mitigate the spread of COVID-19

Youthful packaging design by Sidel opens a new page for Menton

Sidel packaging team in Shanghai, China redesigned the package of Menton flavoured water by integrating youthfulness into its health attribute. The straight-wall lightweight PET bottle, which weighs only 17.85 grams for the 500 ml format, conveys the sense of modernity and is a statement of sustainable packaging. Targeting young consumers in China, this new design differentiates Menton as a premium choice among other Ready-to-Drink (RTD) flavoured water brands in the market.

Study of plastic packaging waste helps to deliver a circular economy

CEFLEX and partners PCEP, Petcore Europe, Styrenics Circular Solutions and MORE Recycling team up to understand the reality of today’s collected household packaging waste – a vital step forward towards a circular economy for packaging materials. 

Hailed as Europe’s first in-depth analysis of its kind, the resulting data aims to reveal the amounts and types of post-consumer flexible and rigid plastic packaging, in the two main waste streams in which it is collected. Sharing the findings of the study is expected to define and deliver a circular economy for all packaging materials.

Webinar on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) in Packaging

All segments of the supply chain can take advantage of wireless (sensor) technology. Retailers in general merchandise, grocery, apparel and other categories are now piloting RFID programs and reporting improved sales from greater stock availability, cost savings and increased responsiveness, especially in receiving and inventory control operations. Current RFID tags are based on chips containing a memory that can be wirelessly read out to uniquely identify products.
