Steve may and carl law brought more than 34 years of packaging experience with them when they started bluefrog. May previously worked at pernod ricard, as a logistics controller, and law was a former supplier of may. In order to broaden its market into the drinks and household goods sector, earlier this year the firm invested in a shrink
Sleeve steam tunnel and applicator from graham accraply. The swindonbased firm claims to be the first company based in the south of england to offer a shrink sleeve application service to its clients, which includes firms in sectors such as health and beauty, cosmetics, nonalcoholic drinks and print. The new machine can shrink sleeve any product up to 350ml high by 160ml wide at speeds of up to 150 and 200 products per minute. The kit can shrinksleeve 80,000 units per day and 400,000 units per week.
May says that the main aim of the firm&rsquos investment was to apply shrink sleeves to products in a fully automated way. May explains &ldquosince install ing the machine, we have seen an efficiency increase and a greater number of customer enquiries. &ldquothe shrink sleeve market is increasing as the label market has remained fairly static.&rdquo he says that shrink sleeve labels allow brands to put marketing across the whole of their products, which traditional labels cannot. He adds &ldquowe are the only shrink sleeve applicator based in the south.&rdquo although bluefrog packing did not disclose its current turnover it says it is growing and expects to continue to grow in the coming year.
May concludes &ldquothe installation of the new steam sleeving capability is in line with the company strategy to enhance the service offering to our current customer portfolio, as well as attracting new customers with offline promotional capabilities.
