the outer shell is manufactured entirely out of paperboard, it is both fully brandable and fully recyclable. medlock ez is typically made with uncoated solid bleached sulfate sbs paperboard, but it can also be made using other paperboard types, and it can integrate various coatings and special effects on package surfaces. the paperboard is custom branded, printed, cut, folded and glued together, resulting in one solid piece that forms the outer shell. this protective shell &ndash which remains partially, and intentionally, open on one end &ndash houses a pill blister card with individual dosages. while the blister card can be seen through the partially open end of the shell, it is secured in place by the locking mechanism built into the opposite end of the shell. the lock disengages by squeezing and holding touchpoints at the sealed end of the shell while sliding the blister card out from the partially open end. once the blister card is exposed, medication can be pressed through one of the individual blisters. sliding the blister card back into the outer shell reengages the lock, and an audible click can be heard.
