Talcum powder has been perceived by consumers as messy, inconvenient and sold as a low value, commodity product gradually losing shelf presence and disappearing from bathrooms. With this in mind, designworks decided to target the sports market with the packaging taking cues from existing sports products.
The aim was to enhance the image of talcum powder from a commodity product to a premium one. The packaging incorporates a refillable chamber for the tablets. Compressed talcum powder tablets are crushed in the hand and then applied to the body. The packs dispense the tablets with a release button at the top, which is hinged to act as the refill opening.
By using a tablet format, mess is vastly reduced in comparison to powder, while also allowing us to radically redesign the packaging into an easy to use, ergonomic dispenser.
