Paracetamol is successfully used against pain and fever approximately 55 billion times a year and therefore ranks among the most common medicines worldwide. Doliprane® is a key player on the french market. Thus the production quantities are correspondingly large. Sanofiaventis, one of the world&rsquos leading pharmaceutical companies, relies on oystar hüttlin when it comes to manufacturing. For example, at the production site in cologne, germany, paracetamol effervescent tablets and in lisieux, france paracetamol tablets both &ldquodoliprane&rdquo brand are manufactured on plants supplied by the granulation experts. In cologne the oystar hüttlin htg 1800 and hd 600 units produced granulates for a total of 359 million effervescent tablets for the french market in 2009. This rate of production is made possible through the installation of a fully integrated granulating line no manual operations of any kind are necessary &ndash from dustfree loading via big bags to filling the respective container. The htg 1800 highshear mixer granulator and the hd 600 fluidized bed system are equipped with pneumatic filling mechanisms, including integrated weighing, pneumatic empty mechanisms as well as pneumatic transfer between the mixer and fluidized bed, thus providing for a completely closed production process. The complete plant has a shockproof design and satisfies the highest safety requirements. In lisieux, on the other hand, sanofiaventis had the fully automated hdgc 1200 fluidized bed system from oystar hüttlin installed with an upstream big bag unloading station. The apparatus carries out two process steps spray granulation and the drying process in a single product container. The initial output makes the production of granulates possible for more than 500 million paracetamol tablets per year. Just like in cologne, an efficient cleaning concept is provided to prevent crosscontamination. Thus each of the plants is automatically cleaned and dried overnight via the wip system &ldquowashing in place&rdquo, from the loading station to discharge, so that products can be manufactured on the following morning with the highest degree of purity.
