GSK Consumer Health had developed and launched ‘Voltaren No Mess’ applicator. The Voltaren team set about designing new packaging that enabled consumers to apply the product without having to touch it. The new VOLTAREN “No Mess” applicator means that consumers now have a simple and hygienic way of applying the gel directly to the point of pain, while their hands remain clean. The UK-based company found that there were several barriers to entry for pain relief gels that were putting off some consumers, many of whom would typically opt for tablet alternatives, such as paracetamol.

In the next 2-3 years, the company expects the domestic packaging business to contribute 80 per cent to its overall turnover.

"By 2019-20, we should look at top line of Rs 9,000 crore, which at the end of FY17 was Rs 6,500 crore," Uflex Group President (Finance and Accounts) Rajesh Bhatia told .

Asked which business segment will be the growth driver, he said: "We are looking at more growth coming from the packaging business... we have just commissioned our Sanand Gujarat plant for aseptic packaging and our hologram business is also expanding in Jammu."
