Aldi has removed plastic packaging on some of its bananas as part of a new trial to reduce plastic pollution.
The trial is taking place across selected stores in the UK, including in the North East, Yorkshire, the South West, the South East, and the Midlands.
The discounter is following the example of other major supermarkets in replacing the traditional plastic bag with a paper band alternative.
The trial covers selected banana lines, such as Aldi’s Nature’s Pick five-pack, midi bananas, and organic six-pack.
