Feneberg changes its minced meat packaging to a new sustainable solution

70 per cent less plastic and completely recyclable materials: the southern German supermarket chain Feneberg, based in Kempten (Allgäu) shows how sustainable packaging of fresh food works: minced meat is now only available in thin tubular bags in the self-service counter.

Malta - first Mediterranean country to launch deposit return scheme

Malta follows the other 12 EU countries that have introduced DRS as a tool to significantly reduce littering and increase the collection and recycling rates of single-use beverage containers. The deposit return scheme in Malta is operated by BCRS Malta Ltd., the licensed, not-for-profit private operator of the national Beverage Container Refund Scheme. The organization was incorporated by associations of beverage container producers, importers, and retailers to assume collective extended producer responsibility on their behalf.

ASDA UPDATES OWN-BRAND TOILET ROLLS TO REDUCE PLASTIC PACKAGING

The Big 4 grocer is making the move to reduce the number of rolls per pack on one of its most popular own-brand products, significantly reducing its packaging and removing over 1,200 lorries from the road each year.

The new Shades Double Toilet Rolls, which are FSC accredited, will be available in-store and online and are available across all seven existing toilet roll lines.

Asda’s new toilet roll plastic packaging is recyclable at over 150 Asda stores, meaning customers can take it to one of its front-of-store recycling points to reduce the impact on the environment.

Berry’s Reusable Beer and Soft Drink Cup is a Game Changer

The SuperCup is suitable for all types of events where beer and soft drinks are being served. At the end, the SuperCups can simply be collected and rinsed, and are then ready for the next event. In this way, the SuperCup helps to limit the amount of single use cups being thrown away.

Despite its sturdiness, the SuperCup is at least 30% lighter than the market standard for reusable beer cups. It is made from recyclable PP, making recycling possible and easy after final use where the appropriate systems exist, although it is primarily intended for reuse time and time again.
