The Kingfish Company opens processing plant directly connected to the farm

The land-based yellowtail kingfish farmer said that, following this opening, the leased processing facility in Colijnsplaat, in use since 2017, will be shut down.

How does the new facility operate?
As mentioned, the brand-new processing facility inaugurated this week is directly connected to the fish farm so the yellowtail kingfish can be transported from the tanks to the plant using a specially designed fish pump that ensures gentle transport.

When it comes to gift tags, there are two main schools of thought: on one end you have those who finish their Christmas present shopping by the end of November who obviously also have made sure to buy specially matching gift tags.

At the other end of the spectrum, there are the less organised amongst us - those who simply cut strips of flimsy wrapping paper from the sheet as a panic-stricken last-minute gift tag that will just have to do because you've run out of time as the clock ticks ever closer to Christmas Day.

Duxbury Networking goes green with sustainable product packaging

At a time when packaging waste in the EU amounts to almost 190kg per person and the US generated more than 33 million tons of corrugated boxes and 14.5 million tons of plastic containers, the Duxbury Go Green campaign is a powerful reminder of the importance of reducing waste.

To this end, in 2023 the distributor started negotiations with the suppliers of its products to switch to more eco-friendly packaging with zero plastic waste.

Nanocelluloses, which originate from plant fibers, possess excellent mechanical and barrier properties. However, their interaction with water vapor can cause swelling and lead to a loss of these advantageous properties. This has led to the investigation of water vapor transport in multilayer films with nanocelluloses combined with hydrophobic polymers like PLA to improve compatibility and barrier properties.

UPM Raflatac, a global supplier of innovative and sustainable self-adhesive paper and film products, has been formally recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) for three types of biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) label products for HDPE and PP package recycling. Seaweed packaging startup Sway is making a splash in the fight against plastic pollution. This California-based company has launched the world's first scalable alternative to single-use plastics, using an unlikely hero: seaweed.

Sway is tackling a tremendous problem. Retail bags and polybags used for shipping make up a whopping 30% of single-use plastics. These pesky plastics sit in landfills for years, emitting methane as they decompose, which causes temperatures to rise and hurts those with compromised respiratory systems.
